Shave Oil: Why Should I Use It?

0

Shaving oils are considered a little counter-effective when it comes to proven relief from razor bumps, razor burn, pimples, and ingrown hairs – “I mean it’s an oil isn’t it?”

Shaving oil, like the American Crew Lubricating Shave Oil 50ml is an oil, but contains a blend of essential and nourishing herbal ingredients that will not only (and have been proven to) soften your beard, but soothe razor burn and prevent painful and unsightly ingrown hairs from appearing on that pristinely shaved mug of yours.

Without listing an entire bunch of of herbal ingredients that only your grandmother (or the colluding domestic goddess and jailbird Martha Stewart) would know of, take note of the following key constituents you should look out for when choosing a shaving oil:

  • Rosemary and clove oil (softens the beard for an effortless shave)
  • Eucalyptus oil (antiseptic and soothes razor burn much like Tea Tree Oil)
  • Peppermint oil (unrivalled cooling and soothing effect)

But I Don’t Have Time To Use a Shave Oil

Nor do I my good man, but what I don’t have time for is razor burn, pimples and ingrown hairs. Although I don’t have the fullest beard myself – actually there are probably more teenage girls in Greece with a fuller beard than mine – I do have ‘normal’ skin which means I need not use any other product but the shave oil. So as you can imagine: shave time has become less messy and a lot quicker in fact. Oily to dry (or combination) skins can use a shave oil in conjunction with a gel, foam or cream, and followed up with a moisturiser.

Benefits of Using Shaving Oil

Having not used a shave oil previously, I now never shave without it. And being an oil (where only a small amount is needed) a little goes a long way – and a 50ml bottle should last you a couple of months.

The following are a few of the benefits you can expect from using a shave oil:

  • softens beard
  • nourishes and protects skin
  • effortless shaving
  • soothes razor burns
  • keeps skin moist and supple
  • heals shave nicks fast
  • minimises razor bumps
  • eliminates ingrown hairs

So all round, shave oil is a product that should be considered an essential addition to your shaving routine, also can be used for body shaving as well i.e. legs and head, and will leave your skin soothed and bump free.
